Kenosha Running Company Inc. has partnered up with the Special Olympics of Wisconsin to present the State Cross Country Meet for Special Olympics Athletes. This event will be welcoming for all Special Olympics Athletes and open to all other athletes of all ages and abilities. To make it perfectly clear, this event is open to Non-Special Olympics Athletes as well.  Guide runners, mentor runners, individual runners of all ages and abilities are welcome to compete in any of the three distances.

This event will feature three different distances with staggered start times:

  • 2:00 p.m. will be the 800-meter event.  Athletes must be able to complete the distance in 20 minutes.
  • 2:25 p.m. will be the start of the 1600-meter event.  Athletes must be able to complete the distance in 35 minutes
  • 3:10 p.m. will be the start of the 5000-meter event.   Athletes must be able to complete the distance in 70 minutes.

The 5000-meter event will be chip timed.  The 800 and 1600 events will be hand-timed. 

The Special Olympic Challenge gives any athlete the opportunity to participate in all three races creating extra special memories.

Packet pick up will be available the day of the event starting at 11:00 a.m. until the start of each event.
