State Cross Country Meet

Special Olympics has taken measures to ensure the safety of all their athletes and is discouraging participation in events that would be over 50.

As a result, our focus has shifted from making this a “Living Unified” Event to a fundraising event for our local Special Olympics office in Racine.  Those SO athletes that are not at high risk in regards to the Coronavirus are welcome to join us.

We currently have several Cross Country Programs joining in on this day of running with a variety of distances: 800m, 1600m, 3K, and 5K. The entry fee is $18.00 or you can do three  (the 800, the 1600, and the 3K or 5K) “Special Olympic Challenge” for $26.00. We will have swag for each runner and awards in divisions to be determined.

Alpine Valley Golf Course is located at W2501 Co. Rd , WI. The course will be rolling hills on the ruff of the fairways. This a great location and looking forward to hosting this event.  It is open to all ages, all abilities, and including walkers.

We hope everyone will support this event and help in continuing to find ways to support Special Olympic Athletes.

This event will feature three different distances with start times:
9:20 a.m. will be the 800-meter event.  Athletes must be able to complete the distance in 20 minutes.
9:55 a.m. will be the start of the 1600-meter event.  Athletes must be able to complete the distance in 35 minutes

10:45 will be the start of the Girls 3K event

11:15 will be the start of the Boys 3K event
12:30 p.m. will be the start of the 5K event.   Athletes must be able to complete the distance in 70 minutes.

The Special Olympic Challenge gives any athlete the opportunity to participate in all three races creating extra special memories.

DISTANCES: 800meter, 1600meter, 3K, 5K
