Welcome to the 2018 XC Thrillogy Trail, CaniCross and Parade Series of events.  Since a crazy mistake-filled start in October of 2014, we have evolved into perhaps the largest trail events series of our kind in the US.  2018 be highlighted with "14 Trail Events" of which we hold numerous ultra distance during the Hot Hilly Hairy and Wolfpack Trail Run, seven exclusive CaniXC events in conjunction with our trail events, kick off three parades and for the 4th year... hosting the Hilloopy 100+ Relay.

We are excited to introduce our new program for 2018, this program is to honor and recognize those that have served our country.  Any active military, veterans and their spouses will be able to enter any and all of our events for free.  If you would like to help us further promote this program with your time and/or financially please reach out to us.

Our events have a reputation for being laid back and welcoming, in which friends are easily made on the trails and sharing a beer and a meal after the run/walk is enjoyed.  We seldom focus on awards in the tradition sense, but love to recognize those that perhaps inspire others or embrace our events with a wonderful spirit.  I enjoy, beyond your imagination, developing and hosting our events.  Each of you are and will be a blessing to me and those you will meet at our events. I hope to see you at one or more of our events in 2018.

Running it is just a way of life,

Survival is Insufficient – Orienteering

Are you ready to test your navigation skills and fitness?

All abilities of runners & walkers are invited to explore the campus & surrounding grounds for this unique event.

The course will start at the UW-Parkside outdoor track and finish in Petrifying Springs Park in Kenosha, WI.

Taking place on March 4th, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Survival is Insufficient is a event that combines trail running/walking with orienteering, similar to a scavenger hunt, but it you will not have to find someone who has set of measuring spoons in their backpack. Over the course of this 5K trail run/ walk, you will need to use your map skills and knowledge from reading Station Eleven to find the checkpoints, answer the questions, and cross the finish line.

Orienteering involves navigating a map with a specific course with checkpoints along the way that must be verified to prove that you were actually there.  The actual course would be considered sprint type of beginner to intermediate difficulty.

The Survival is Insufficient event is part of the NEA Big Read program.  NEA Big Read, a program of the National Endowment for the Arts, is in partnership with Arts Midwest. More info about UW Parkside's participation in the NEA Big Read program can be found at https://www.uwp.edu/engage/bigread/

Station Eleven book will be available early 2018 for free at the UW-Parkside library and the Kenosha public libraries. Friendly competition

is expected. Map skills will be helpful. Reading Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel is strongly encouraged (you get bonus points).

Once finished, you will be welcomed with great post event food, soda, adult drinks, and fun awards.  Registration is only $17 for students,

$22 for adults, couples $35, and families of 3 or more $45.  Same day registration available, but advanced registration is strongly

encouraged and helpful .
